Figueira Mills and Water Channels

The Mills and Water Channels of Figueira bear witness to the community’s long-standing relationship with water and agriculture. Fed by the Pisão stream, the mills harnessed the power of water to grind grain into flour, essential for making bread and traditional corn bread. The water channels also supplied the fields for irrigation.
